STRESS- the silent killer!.



Stress is a reaction to stimulus that disturbs our physical or mental equilibrium. We have acute and chronic stress. Acute stress is not  dangerous to our health because it keeps us active and alert but when stress accumulates, it becomes chronic stress and it has detrimental effects on our health. This kind of stress can lead to infertility, mental illness, heart diseases and hypertension.


Factors that can lead to stress.

A lot of factors can be linked to stress including emotional and physical disorders. such as , unemployment, money matters, lack of social activities, divorce, bad health condition, bereavement, sexual problems, uncomfortable workplace, increase in responsiblities etc.


Symptoms of stress.

Problem swallowing, frequent colds, frequent sweating, rashes, frequent allergy attacks, excess belching, heart burn, stomach pain, difficulty in breathing, chest pain, frequent urination, increased anger, frustration, depression, insomnia, diminished sexual performance, trouble learning new things, forgetfulness, confusion, feeling overwhelmed, frequent suicidal thoughts, feelings of loneliness, wild mood swings, lack of interest in appearance, racing thoughts, increased or decreased appetite, hostility, frequent signing, nausea, frequent infection, dry mouth, body pain, dizziness, stuttering or stammering, hair loss frequent sweating etc.

Ways to manage stress.

  • Eat plenty of fruits and vegetables.
  • Try not to get too angry.
  • Do plenty of exercise.
  • Work on your social life. Hang out more with friends.
  • Try to discuss your problems with loved ones.
  • Avoid too much alcohol and caffeine.
  • Learn to manage your time.
  • Drink plenty of water. Water therapy is very important.
