STROKE IN YOUNG PEOPLE ( causes, symptoms and preventions)



It's hard to believe but stroke in people below 45 years have increased over the years. One of my neighbours in Warri died of stroke some years ago. Folks still find it hard to believe he had stroke because he was just 21 years old.

CAUSES


  • Birth control pills.
  • Migraine.
  • Smoking.
  • Heart disorders.
  • Obesity.
  • Infections.
  • Trauma.
  • Dehydration.

SYMPTOMS

  • Numbness or weakness on one side of the arm, face or leg.
  • Confusion, trouble speaking or understanding speech.
  • Trouble walking, loss of balance or coordination.
  • Trouble seeing in one or both eyes.
  • Sudden severe headaches.

PREVENTIONS

  • Reduce the fat in your diet. Eat a diet rich in vegetables, fruits and whole grains.
  • Recognize and control diabetes.
  • Control your high blood pressure and high cholesterol at an early age.
  • Stay away from drugs, smoking and alcohol.
  • Help your doctor to identify underlying diseases.
